M

I am a bit late getting our “M” day adventures posted. We spent a couple of days on “M”. This is what we did…

The first thing we did was make a Mixed-Up Messy Cake. Caleb and Karin helped me make the cake and put it in the oven.

Once the cake was baked and cooled, Caleb and Karin helped me decorate the cake. I put several different types of candies and cake toppings in bowls and let them decorate the cake however they wanted. The cake was beautiful and delicious!!

For snack on “M” day we just had to get a milkshake. Caleb picked chocolate and Karin picked bamilla (or vanilla in layman’s terms). YUM!!

Caleb had a great idea for “M” day. He said, “Hey, do you remember when we went to the Discovery Playhouse and tried to find something that started with every letter? Can we do that at the mall? Mall starts with M you know.” So that’s what we did.

This is what we came up with…

AT&T booth
Books
Cookies
Doors
Exit
Flag
Games
Hurricane simulator
Ice cream
Jewelry
Kids Bee Fit (Karin’s exercise class)
Lion
Mop
Numbers
Old Navy
Playground
Quarter
Rings
Shoes
Tractor
Umbrella
Verizon dealer
Wellness Connection
X shape made with string (Caleb found this on a picture ad for a store)
Yellow sign
Zebra striped cell phone cover

Our time at the mall was pretty fun. I got a little exercise walking around the mall and then Caleb and Braelyn got to play in the play area

while Karin was in her exercise class.

I also got the kids a cookie before we left the mall. Karin loves sugar cookies with pink sprinkles, Caleb is a fan of chocolate chip, and Braelyn just loves cookies.

We also made muffins for another "M" day treat. We made Daddy’s favorite recipe (well, Grandma’s recipe that Daddy loves). They certainly didn’t last long.

We read our “M” books (My Big World Book, My Brother, Matthew, and My First Bible) and Caleb taught us the sign for “M”.

The next couple of weeks are going to be kind of crazy for our Alphabet Adventures. Caleb has Cowboy Camp and Karin has VBS so our letter days will be choppy. Stay tuned for the rest of our adventures. We have some more fun activities planned.

L

We made a decision in the morning that “L” day would be a lazy day. The kids got home late Sunday night after a weekend at Grandma’s and they were tired. They had to get up early for swimming lessons but they didn’t really seem to have too much energy otherwise. We figured it was a perfect lazy day.

After swimming lessons we went to the video store to pick up a movie. We were looking for the Lion King but apparently someone never returned the movie. So, we got Leave it to Beaver instead.

When we got home we took out our Lincoln Logs and Little People and just played on the living room floor while watching movies.

After a wonderful, lazy day we decided to make a truly perfect “L” day dinner. We made lasagna and herbed dinner rolls (Miss Jennifer’s amazing recipe). Karin also helped me make limeade. For dessert we ate strawberry licorice. Okay, so it wasn’t the best combination of foods but it was an all around “L” meal.

We extended “L” day to Tuesday and went to the library. Tuesday is the day the kids help me deliver library books to people who are unable to get to the library themselves. Before checking for deliveries I let the kids play for a while in the children’s section.

We also checked for “L” books. We found: Little People On The Farm, Lions, and Lionel Bakes a Cake.

And the sign for the day is…

K

I have to admit, “K” day had me stumped. We had a busy day already planned with swimming lessons, a doctor’s appointment, and a trip to the store. I didn’t want to pack too much more into the day. We ended up finding some fun “K” things to do.

The first thing we did was make Key Lime Pie. Since this is my favorite flavor of pie I knew this was a must for “K” day. Caleb and Karin helped me pour and mix all of the ingredients and Caleb helped me put the pie in the oven.

While we were waiting for the pie to bake and set we played kick the can outside. I let Caleb and Karin pick their cans out of the recycle box in the kitchen (one rule was that they could not play with the cans with their hands as I didn’t want them to get cut). The kids loved playing this game. They loved the sound the cans made when they landed on the patio. Because it was so hot outside, we turned on the sprinkler and they kicked the cans through the sprinkler.

To cool off after running around outside, Karin helped me make a pitcher of Kool-Aid.

Once they decided it was too hot to be outside, Caleb and Karin came in to play. And since it was “K” day Caleb insisted that we did Karate. They have never had lessons but it was hysterical to watch. Caleb felt like Karate involved chopping and kicking while Karin felt like it meant jumping up and down and shouting. I kept Braelyn out of the room for her safety. Very entertaining!

After quiet time we went for a special treat. Since it was “K” day and Karin starts with a “K” we let her pick the treat for the day. She picked the new ice cream parlor called KaleidoScoops. Caleb and Karin each had a scoop of Moose Tracks and Braelyn and I shared a scoop of Candy Factory ice cream. I’m not sure how but Caleb managed to eat his ice cream cone is less than 5 minutes while it took Karin over an hour to eat hers. I guess she was savoring every bite of her special treat. Before we left Caleb selected the flavors we wants to try for his next three visits.

We did read some “K” books: Knuffle Bunny and Kisses. And here is the sign of the day..

Oh… we ate the pie for dessert. Karin wouldn’t even try it and Caleb said it was too "limey" but he ate it anyway. Mommy and Daddy gobbled it up.
