We took a little break from our alphabet adventures as we went on a family adventure. I decided not to work on our letters during our trip partly because I didn’t know what we would find and partly because I didn’t have a computer to post anything while we were gone. We are home now and ready to continue with our alphabet adventures.
We got home late Wednesday night so I told the kids they could sleep in on Thursday. I also didn’t think they would want to get back in the car on Thursday so we decided to have a Do Nothing Day. Aside from getting some laundry done, we really did nothing.
Caleb asked if we could make noodles for dinner since noodles starts with “n”. Caleb picked the noodle shape he wanted and the kids helped me pick fresh herbs from our garden for the sauce. We had a yummy, simple, perfect Do Nothing Day meal.
On Friday we decided to continue our “N” day fun. We drove to the Nature Center and spent some time looking at and exploring the hands-on exhibits, watching a video, and reading stories. Caleb liked the two-headed snake and Karin liked making the bird calling noises. Braelyn seemed to enjoy the area where she could crawl around on the carpet and play with the cloth bugs.
After we were done inside we decided to head out to the trail and take a nature walk. In the morning, Caleb and I came up with a list of things to look for while we were on our walk. We took out our list and started searching. We found (but did not pick up since we left nature where we found it): an acorn, a leaf, a caterpillar, a nest, a spider web, a stick, a foot print (we were looking for animal but found human), and a bird. The only thing on our list that we did not see was an animal.
When we got back in the car Caleb suggested we have Nachos for lunch. Karin doesn’t really like Nachos so she had leftover noodles.
After quiet time Caleb wanted to look at the nest in our backyard (from our little birdies that flew away). So, we took it down and looked at how it was made. Bird nests really are pretty amazing to look at.
We did read some “N” books: Never Talk to Strangers, Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, and Nursery Rhymes.
And here is the sign for “N."
