P

The activities of “P” day took place several days ago over a span of several days. My computer has been giving me problems lately so I have not been able to share all of our activities and photos.
Our “P” day activities started with a swim in the pool. Karin and Caleb love to swim so they were excited when they could go to the pool to work on one of the letters.

After our swim we went to Pizza Hut for lunch. The kids earned some free pizza coupons for all of the reading they did this summer. This was the perfect “P” day lunch… especially the free part.
(For some reason my computer is not allowing me to paste pictures right now. I will add them when I can- there are some cute ones.)
For afternoon snack we made some popcorn. We are all popcorn lovers in this family so it didn’t take much to convince the kids that we should make some to celebrate the day. As we were enjoying our special snack Caleb, Karin, and I played a rousing game of Pop the Pig. Braelyn enjoyed playing too as she kept running away with the little hamburger pieces.
Karin was able to celebrate “P” day by going to Pirate Camp one morning. She loved it! When I picked her up after a couple of hours of camp she was dressed like a pirate and picking a snack out of a treasure chest.
While Karin was at camp Caleb, Braelyn, and I went to the park. We ran the course at Safety City and played on the playground.
Before we picked up Karin we went to the Post Office to mail a package. Caleb was so excited to go since Post Office starts with a “P.” I think the lady working behind the counter thought we were a bit crazy with all of our excitement at being at the Post Office.
We also read some books that started with a “P.” We read: Peek-A-Boo Pets, Pat the Bunny, Penguins, and Planting a Rainbow.
And here’s Caleb with the letter “P.”
Now that school is back in session we will be working on our activities as time allows. The kids are excited about finishing up the alphabet and moving on to new adventures.

O

This summer has proven to be busier than expected. The kids and I just got back from a week long visit with my family in VA. While we were gone we didn’t spend too much time working on our letters. Caleb and Karin wanted to play with Daddyman and their cousins… the letters just didn’t seem all that important to them. Go figure!!

For “O” day we went to the ocean. It just seemed like the best way to learn about “O”. The kids had so much fun playing in the sand and splashing in the waves. We blew up beach balls and rafts and just played in the sun.

We also ate Oreos for the perfect “O” day snack.

The “O” books we read for the day were: Ok Go, Officer Buckle and Gloria, and Old MacDonald Has A Woodshop.

And our sign for the day…
